Some merchants (Airbnb, amazon, square, aliexpress, etc.) will manifest under unique payee codes.

It would be useful to merge payees after import. I have seen 2 good implementations of this:
Debit & Credit allows you to multi-select payees, right click and merge. Via drop-down, the user selects the one account that should prevail, and after confirmation the payees are merged and relevant transactions are updated
YNAB goes further and allows you to set up matching rules. For example, to have “AMZN*” always be merged under an “Amazon.com”. This is absolutely brilliant if your flow includes importing transactions from the bank.
