Add support for separate amounts within a single transaction
Currently, transactions created in the application can only be created with the total amount and a single assigned category. However, for a more detailed view, some users may prefer to add a list of individual amounts within a single transaction.
For example, if the transaction is assigned to the "Groceries" category, you should be able to add individual sub-amounts to individual sub-categories within a single transaction (e.g. $10 meat, $5 cheese, etc.). In the transaction list, you'll still see the parent category and the total amount ("Groceries"), but when you open the transaction details, you'll see the individual breakdown of subcategories and amounts.
Alternatively, you can already use the notes to enter the items and partial amounts.

that's good to know that it seems to be a quite popular feature. Can you tell me which app you are currently using? Then I can get a better idea of what it is and see how it was solved there so that I can add it to Budget Flow and optimize it if necessary :)

I didn’t want to create pressure to get this done, sorry. Thank you for taking time to consider this feature.
I currently use You Need A Budget, I can provide some use-cases I had during the last few days:
I went to the supermarket and brought back groceries, an Apple Gift Card and some soap and stuff for the dishwasher. Those go into 3 different categories (at least in our current taxonomy), in Budget Flow I’d need to either create 3 transactions and dissociate 1 bank transaction into 3 Budget Flow transactions, or decide for each bank transaction exactly 1 category even if it doesn’t fit well.
I drove home from a concert with a fellow choir member on our bikes, we got gas and I paid both our fill-ups. Having this be 2 subtransactions to be able to differentiate my gas consumption from “other stuff” would be helpful.
When getting a repair done that involves pricier parts I generally subdivide the whole transaction into parts (e.g. brake disks, brake pads, labour, whatever) to be able to so how the prices of parts might evolve over time.
Let me know if you need more feedback. I’d also be willing to participate in a TestFlight round should you decide to develop this.

Split transactions is the thing I need to begin using this app. Often times I will have purchases that include job expenses and personal expenses in the same transaction. In the current program I use, Ace Money, if I assign $40 out of a $100 transaction to the category “job expenses”, it will show that I have $60 left to assign to one or more categories. I can also select a subcategory (I.e. naming a specific job) or I can leave the subcategory blank.
As a side note, the GUI for Ace Money is very antiquated but the split transaction feature works very well. What led me to look for another program is the need to log transactions from multiple devices (iPhone and two Apple computers) and have everything remain synchronized.

I second this, yesterday I was filling each single entity from my slip and wanted to see where I spent most of money. Also wanted to include the photo as a "proof" for that. To each single entity it doesn't make sense, but for grouped within the parent - totally yes and it would help a lot.
Notes might be not good place especially that it can be used as a value to be displayed in the list (instead of category), but honestly, I put there the name of thing I bought and only that to see what I bought. Seeing whole breakdown there would make visual mess, especially when your slip has 20+ records.

Sounds very useful to me especially when it comes to checking your spending stats. For instance if I wanna know how much I’m spending on alcohol, it would be nice to be able to specify in a single “supermarket” entry how much went to wine. Just an example though, I see many uses for the feature :)

Yes for me. This is replicated in another request in the list as well. I need to be able to allocate multiple categories, of different amounts, to total to the transaction. Like split transaction in Banktivity. So many of my transactions need to be split across multiple categories.

To me, it is not about a lower level detail as in the Groceries example above, but that in so many of my transactions the spend is for two or more purposes. Accuracy of spend requires that transactions are posted to the correct category. Examples include a large electrical good store - £150 on gifts and £75 on Personal Goods for me. As more and more hypermarkets, garages, large shops sell multiple categories, so the need arises frequently. It would render budgeting meaningless if all simply bulked, yet I do not relish the extra time a manual workaround will take. Upvote from me in hope.
