I’m experiencing a serious recurring-transaction/database issue that has reached the point where I can no longer reliably use Budget Flow for budgeting.
When recurring planned transactions are paid/completed, old planned occurrences and/or duplicate recurring definitions appear to remain active in the database. These can continue affecting future forecasts even though they are not visible on the Planned screen.
Examples I have encountered include SoFi, T-Mobile, Affirm, GEICO, Grizzly Fiber, Assurant, and Chase recurring payments.
I have inspected multiple exported SQLite backups and found:
Completed transactions retaining future planned dates
Duplicate recurring definitions
Hidden/orphan recurring definitions that do not appear in the Planned UI
Duplicate future occurrences of the same recurring bill
Forecast calculations including transactions that cannot be seen or corrected from within the app
One instance showed my combined account balance at approximately $999, but the next-day forecast dropped to approximately -$438 despite the visible planned transactions not accounting for that decrease.
More recently, I repaired the database and restored it. Immediately after restoration, the balances and net worth appeared correct (my actual net worth was under $500). I then closed and reopened Budget Flow without making additional changes. After relaunching, the app displayed a net worth of approximately $4,260, including an incorrect America First Checking balance of approximately $3,951.
This suggests that something may be rebuilding/recalculating recurring transactions or account state when the app launches and reintroducing invalid data.
Because some of the records affecting calculations are invisible in the UI, I cannot reliably fix the problem from within Budget Flow. Even restoring a repaired database has not been a permanent solution.
I have already emailed support with a detailed report, device/app information, and an SQLite backup. I also have multiple before/after backups available that demonstrate the database changes.
Device: iPhone 15 Pro Max (iPhone16,2)
iOS: 26.6
Budget Flow: 3.2.5
I purchased the lifetime version because I really like the app and intended to use it as my primary budgeting tool, but currently I cannot trust the account balances, recurring transactions, or forecasts enough to use it.
I would be happy to provide additional SQLite backups or help reproduce the issue.
