Concerned about Outgoing network connections

I read Budget Flow’s Privacy Policy but I still have questions.

These are the 4 connections that Budget Flow is trying to access:

  1. googleapis.com > ???? [privacy page says firebase remote config / crash]

  2. crashlytics.com > crash data?

  3. budget-flow.app > ????

  4. revenuecat.com > verification of purchase

RevenueCat is a payment service provided by RevenueCat, Inc. The service allows the Owner to monitor and analyze the User and their purchase history and can be used to keep track of User behavior.

Usage Data: Information collected automatically through this Application (or third-party services employed in this Application), which can include: the IP addresses or domain names of the computers utilized by the Users who use this Application,

I am not suggesting anything nefarious, but the app contains obviously personal details like purchases so I would ask this of any app.

Why can’t we have an option to turn off all of this extraneous data? I just want the app to communicate to iCloud for sync and that’s it. I wish the user had more control over this as it will for sure turn some privacy-minded folks away from the app.

    Thanks for your message! I’m happy to answer your questions regarding the APIs:

    • Crashlytics / Google APIs: Both of these belong to Firebase. I use two tools here: Firebase Remote Config, which allows me to display discount countdowns remotely without needing to upload a new app update, and Firebase Crashlytics, which anonymously collects crash data when the app experiences any issues. I could potentially make the crash reporting opt-out (e.g., through the app settings), but I’ll need to check if this would cause any complications with Remote Config.

    • RevenueCat: This service is necessary to manage my in-app purchases. However, in order to protect the privacy of my users, I also use this service with anonymized IDs, so aside from someone contacting support via email (where the ID might appear in the footer), I cannot connect the data to any specific user. It’s primarily used to help track the purchase history (which is meant by “user behavior”) and resolve any issues with in-app purchases and subscriptions.

    • budget-flow.app: This domain is used when viewing the imprint or accessing the help center at help.budget-flow.app.
