Inaccurate Forecasting

Forecasting is one of the most useful things about expense tracking. You can get very accurate projections of future balance using your average earnings/expenses. But BudgetFlow is currently displaying the forcast using the wrong data:

Current method:

(Recurring earnings) - (recurring expenses)

Better method

(Recurring earnings + average variable earnings) - (recurring expenses + variable expenses)

Only then will we be able to forecast, say, one year into the future and see an accurate projection of the total balance—enabling proper planning. At the moment, it shows you’ll have more money than you actually will.

The way I understand your problem, isn’t the Trend or the Savings Rate what you look for? Select a longer range (like a year) and then go to Analysis and scroll down to Savings Rate.

However, you’d admittedly need to do the math on how long you need to save a certain amount on your own.

    Edit sorry

    I meant:

(Recurring earnings + average variable earnings) - (recurring expenses + average variable expenses)
