Linking of bank accounts (incl. synchronization)
For some users, it would be convenient to (optionally) link their real bank accounts to the app to automatically record transactions. Since automatic categorization is very complex, this feature can also be implemented as following for the time being:
There is a separate area where you can link 1 or more accounts.
The bank data is automatically synchronized in the background and transactions are created as needed.
Since the transactions are not categorized, they first end up in a kind of "inbox" view where each transaction can be categorized.
After the transaction is saved, it is removed from the "inbox" area and displayed periodically in the application.
However, due to regulatory constraints, the feature may initially be available in only a few countries (e.g. Germany).

Maybe, as a first step, it would be nice to be able to copy a text of a transaction from an SMS or a bank application and paste it into the Budget Flow app, so it would parse the content and suggest to create a transaction with filled properties
(I've actually seen it on "ZenMoney" app, that was pretty convenient, because they still don't support sync with the bank I use)

I dig that solution, also generative AI integration to look at CSV/OFX from the banks and auto categorize/include.

I've seen a competitor using Salt Edge for bank account integration, which appears to be the only viable option in my country. It would be beneficial if this app also adopted Salt Edge or similar service, especially considering their expected full EU coverage in line with PSD2. I hold a lifetime license for this app, yet I'm willing to pay an additional monthly fee for such a valuable feature.

Thanks for the tip. I will definitely take a look at Salt Edge. So far I've only found providers that cover either Europe or the USA, but this one seems to support other countries as well.

probably the main feature i miss about this app. Would be great if all my transactions would be automatically be added to the app. Now i know API’s are hard, but there are a few services like Plaid: https://plaid.com/en-eu/ or salt edge: https://www.saltedge.com/products/account_information/coverage.
That would be great to have in free version.

Agree that these are both nice, but most apps lock these behind the paid features/subscriptions, since I’m sure Plaid or Saltedge aren’t free for the developers to use.

You need to start considering Open Banking API’s rather than Plaid or Bud or other 3rd party providers https://www.openbanking.org.uk
Open Banking is quickly becoming a norm in various countries - UK, EU, US, HK, Australia, India, Middle East, etc.

Banks in Poland have one API standard (i think) and can exchange transaction data among themselves. This can be implemented. It'd be great!

In Brazil this would be killer.
There are data aggregators that can use Open Finance to connect with banks and automatically import expenses, transfers and even act on user account. Most banks implemented the feature as per request of the Central Bank.
Some other brazilian apps do have this feature, but they are buggy sometimes.
BELVO and Pluggy are examples.

I know this is a hugely requested feature, but IMO the core features of Budget Sync need to come first.
I’m also concerned that this will be unsustainable for those of us who opted for the lifetime option. @Fabian could comment if this feature would require the subscription option as I don’t know if the data from the banks would cost $ to the dev.
