"Search as you type" feature

This is my most missed feature from HomeBudget app.

  • Right now global search needs to be typed and then hit search.

  • Please consider adding search as you type. It’s such a UI/UX experience boost with little to no downside.

IMO this is no brainer.

    Thank you for your suggestion!

    The current implementation of the global search was intentionally designed this way. The main reason for this is performance, because when dealing with large amounts of data, a "search as you type" feature would make the search noticeably slower, as it would trigger a new database query with each keystroke.

    In addition, enabling this would mean removing the "suggestions" feature that many users find useful.

    However, I understand the benefit of instant search, so I'll keep this in mind and see if there's a way to improve the experience without impacting performance.

      Thanks Fabian! keeping it mind would be great. If it hurts performance, then I say don’t do it. I’ve never used the suggestions feature but I can see others using it.

      I retract this feature suggestion. OK to close if you want to.
