It’s time to build API +/or MCP

PinnedHi everyone,
Thanks for checking in! I’d personally also love to see Budget Flow integrated with AI tools through MCP.
However, Budget Flow currently stores your data only locally and in your personal iCloud, so there isn’t a hosted API that services like Claude or ChatGPT can connect to directly. A local integration might be possible through Apple Shortcuts, which can be triggered externally using URLs. Though, that would require an additional bridge and wouldn’t be a ready-to-use MCP connection.
Therefore, for a more seamless integration, I need to establish the right foundation first. Currently I’m finishing a major refactoring of the app, with the Android release planned shortly afterwards. For 2027, I’m planning to develop an optional cross-platform sync service as an alternative to iCloud. This would also provide a better foundation for authenticated MCP/API access.
This feature remains planned, but I can’t give you a release date yet. I’m a solo indie developer and handle development, support and everything else myself, so I appreciate your patience while I work through these steps.
I’ll keep you updated here as things progress! 😊
Best regards,
Fabian
